Hydrogeology is regarded as one of the fundamental directions of the Earth sciences, which was essential in the development of important geological processes and evolution of the Earth.

A quantitative estimate of the masses of all forms of water in the core shells of the Earth's crust and the mantle, and the mass fluxes of the global cycles of subsurface waters. The direction and kinetics of the interaction of rocks with groundwater are considered. The important of participation and patterns of subsurface water regime in the major exogenous and endogenous processes, including gypergenesis, lithogenesis, metamorphism, magmatism and volcanism are estimated. The role of subsurface water in the formation of geophysical fields of the Earth and the evolution of subsurface hydrosphere in the recent epoch. Comparative analysis of the distribution of water on the Earth and terrestrial planets show that on the Earth, where cycles are implemented subsurface water, covering the Earth’s crust and the mantle, the conditions exists to compensate for the degassing and dehydration of the Earth to help sustain volcanism and the drift of tectonic plates during its evolution at a constant level.
