The department activity is mainly aimed at the study of fundamental regularities in the manifestation of tectonic processes and structures in the upper zone of the Earth's crust (i.e., the zone of supergenesis and the engineering development of geoenvironment) and the assessment of their engineering-geological and environmental role.
The experience was gained from a long-term work in the regions varying significantly
in their structural geological, landscape and climatic conditions, i.e., the
East European platform, Ural, Tien Shan, Pamirs, Kopetdag, Caucasus, Crimea,
Central Kazakhstan, Turan, Kuzbass, Mongolia, South-East Asia (Vietnam), the
Rodopy Mountains, and Cuba. The scientific, practical and methodical results
of these investigations were published in more than 200 articles and monographs
both in Russia and abroad.
